~는다고 해서/ㄴ다고 해서/다고 해서/(이/으)라고 해서/냐고 해서/자고 해서 – he/she/they/someone/some people said (this) so/therefore/thus…

This is essentially ~는다고 해/ㄴ다고 해/다고 해/이라고 해 (reported speech) + 어/아/여/해서.

Moving on to the examples:

동생이 아침을 먹는다고 해서 아침을 준비가 필요 없이 그냥 나가면 돼.
I heard that my younger sibling said that he ate breakfast so I don’t need to prepare breakfast and can just go out.

오늘은 비가 온다고 해서 우산을 가져가야 돼.
We heard that it will rain today so we have to bring an umbrella.

내일 날씨가 좋다고 해서 등산하려고 가자.
I heard that the weather tomorrow will be great so let’s go mountain climbing.

그 남자가 우리 담임 선생님이라고 해서 인사 드리도록 가자.
I heard that that man is our homeroom teacher so let’s go give our greetings.

그 아이가 2살 때 우리 삼촌에세 아빠라고 해서 진짜 독독한 사람 될거라고 생각해.
I heard that that baby called our uncle “Dad” when he was only 2 years old so I think he will become a smart person.

엄마가 우리 어떤 음식을 먹고 싶냐고 해서 갑자기 똑볶이를 너무 먹고 싶어.
Mom asked us what kind of food do we want to eat so I suddenly had a strong craving for rice cakes.

언니가 오늘 밤에 불고기를 먹자가 해서 지금 너무 신나.
Unnie suggested to eat BBQ tonight so I’m really excited now.
