[Vocabulary] 격려

격려 (gyeok-nyeo) – encouragement

For the verb form, just add 하다.

It is interesting to note that 격려의 말 becomes something like a cheer because it literally means “words of encouragement”.

Examples:

김 선생님은 자주 격려의 말을 해서 학생들이 언제든지도 열심히 공부해.
Teacher Kim often gives words of encouragement so her students are always studying digilently.

그 선배는 가르칠 때마다 태도가 아주 격려하는 것 같지 않아서 싫어.
That senior’s attitude every time when teaches doesn’t seem very encouraging so I don’t like it.
